Obituary

TERRANCE PENDER [in his own words - taken from an assignment at school]

“I am Terrance Terrall Pender. I’m funny, kind, and adventurous. Those are the characteristics that make up the person I am. I was born in Florida and currently live with my Mom, my two sisters and one brother. It’s kinda hard living with my siblings but at the end of the day I still love them.

“I have a lot of goals in life. Reaching them will be hard, but I’m determined to do so. One goal I have is to own my own business and become rich… or at least have enough money so I would never have to struggle in life.

“How do I expect to reach my goals in life? Hard work and determination. My inspiration will be my experiences growing up in a family with six kids. There was a limited supply of money, so we wasn’t able to get everything we wanted. So, when I grow up, I don’t want to have to worry about money. I want all my kids to grow up in a good environment without worrying about anything.

“My mother, Equilla Blackmon, has always been there for me. She makes sure that I’m always taken care of. There’s not a day that goes by that she doesn’t give me lunch money. She buys my clothes and makes sure I’m not in trouble with the law. Even though I’m older now, my Mom still makes sure that I shower daily and am fed three times a day, if not more. My Mom makes sure my phone bill is paid. Every month since tenth grade, I haven’t been without a phone.

“My mother is everything to me. I love her to death… without her, I’d be nothing. My mother has made a lot of sacrifices, but not just for me; for the whole family. I’m sure there were many times when she wanted a purse, or earrings, or just anything. But she didn’t, because she provided what me and my siblings needed. That’s always been her thing: putting us in front of her needs.

“That’s why I love her… because without her, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. She raised me good, and taught me everything I needed to get by
in the world.”

Terrance leaves to cherish his memories: his mother – Equilla “Ma” Blackmon; father – Alonzo Pender; brothers – Bryant Johnson of White Spring, FL, and Alonzo, Jr. and Eric Pender, both of Orlando; sisters – Tanesha Pender of White Springs, FL, and Ruth Etta, Jessica, and Christina Pender, all of Orlando; grand-mother – Eunice Pender; maternal aunts and uncles – Inez Briggs, Jeanette Page, Willie C. (Linda) Page, and Margie (Ron) Jenkins; paternal aunt – Jessie Pender; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and a host of many friends.
