Obituary
MAE ALICE JOHNSON
Mae Alice Johnson, the daughter of Cordie and Goud Teale was born on December 8, 1914 in Terrell County, Georgia. Mae was the youngest of twenty-one children!
Mae moved from Georgia to Homestead, FL after graduating from high school in the late 1930’s. While in Homestead, she became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and married Phillip Johnson. She had one daughter, Ruby Barrington. Mae moved to Orlando, FL in 1950 and joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Institutional Church under the pastorship of Rev. N.G. Staggers.
Mae was an active member of the Gospel Chorus, Director of the Sunshine Band Children’s Program of the church, and she taught Vacation Bible School. She was always excellent in caring for the children of members of the church.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one devoted daughter – Ruby Barrington of Orlando; one grandson – Michael Barrington of Orlando; nieces and nephews – Eva McCoy from Conyers, GA, JoeAnn (Andrew) Stafford of Valdosta, GA, Lovie J.
