Machelle Slade was born on March 25, 1962, in Newport, Rhode Island to the late George Slade and Virginia Slade; she was one of seven children.


Machelle was raised in Eatonville, Florida, and attended the public schools in Orange and Lake County. She was a proud graduate of Mt. Dora High School’s class of 1980.

Machelle was always full of life, and “if you had no rhythm, she had it for you.” She had a keen sense of humor about her, and she loved kids. Machelle was well respected, and when she entered a room it was lit up by her radiant smile.

She leaves to cherish the many wonderful memories of her life: her mother – Virginia Slade; sisters – Pam Slade, Paula R. Slade, and Sheree (Wallace) Audnell; brothers – Larry (Marjorie) Slade, Terry (Patrice) Slade and Marcus (Toni) Slade; aunts – Helen Slade-McClaughlin, Paula A. Slade, Patricia “Gail” Slade, Barbara Slade, and Adlene Stanford; uncle – Handy Dee Slade Jr.; nieces – Shayla (Purcell) Slade-Riley, Jade Slade, Virginia Slade, Ivory Slade, Terese Slade, Taia Slade, Courtney Slade, and Candice Slade; nephews – Larry Slade Jr., Jermane Slade, Corey (Sonjo) Slade, Donald (Immie) Slade, Isaiah Slade, Anthony Slade, Jeffery Smith, Kenon Slade, Tevin Slade, Julion Slade, Terry Slade Jr., Tobias Slade, and Marcus Slade, Jr.; special friends – Ronald “Snake” Saunders, Lisa J. Landers and Jessie Tolbert; one god-daughter – Sitera Tolbert; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
