Obituary

Cynthia B. Newson was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 6:00p.m. at Dr. Phillips Hospital at the age of 58. She fought a good courageous fight while remaining strong in her faith with the Lord.

Cynthia was born May 3, 1952 in East Palatka Florida to the Late Flora Mae Williams and Warren Newson. At an early age Cynthia showed perseverance and motivation taking her from Palatka to Job Corp in the late 60’s. Upon completion she moved to Harlem New York in the late 70’s where she worked at Harlem Hospital as a Certified Lab Technician supervisor for 15 years. In the mid 1980’s Cynthia and her son, Frederick, moved to Orlando, FL and also continued her education at Valencia Community College graduating in 1983 with an Associate’s Degree. After graduation she went to work at Apopka Blood Bank for a short period as a Lab Assistant and later retired from Disney World with 15 years of dedication. Coming out of retirement she began employment with Merita Bakery to assist in furthering her education in Real Estate. But Cynthia’s motivation of achievement didn’t stop; she went on later to become a Licensed Realtor and a Certified Nurse Assistant.

In 1981, Cynthia, accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Her greatest passion in life was to always show the unconditional love of God to all; first to her family and then to others. Cynthia became a member of Miracle Tabernacle where she taught Sunday School classes for different age groups. She would always start the class off with singing “What a mighty God we serve”. Later she was called by God to enter into the Evangelistic field and then unified her calling into the Founder and Pastor of Word In Action Inc., where she remained strong and faithful to God in spite of all sorts of oppositions. Cynthia was also a member of a prayer band which they met once a week at different Churches to pray for the City of Orlando and the ministry. She touched the lives of friends sometimes more than their immediate family. She was the kind of friend even when the friend wasn’t a true friend to her. Cynthia always knew how and when to be humble, gentle, kind and compassionate to all.

Cynthia always made sure her family needs and sometimes their wants was taken care of. She treasured time with family, reading the Bible and watching action movies. She also loved bowling, fishing and singing along with the gospel artist, Helen Baylor. During the holidays her laughter would fill the room when playing the game Outburst where she displayed her competitiveness and energy to win. Another passion was to serve the elderly community as a missionary for over 10 years without asking for any acknowledgements or money. She will be truly missed, loved and cherished forever in the hearts of her loved ones.

Cynthia is survived by her loving son: Frederick Shorter (Sayona ) of Jacksonville, FL; Grand Daughter: Brittany Scott(Sherrod); Two great grandsons: Reshod and Shemar Scott of Norfolk VA; Sister: Raydene Watts(LeRoy brother In-Law); Niece: Vanessa Watts: Nephews: Amadeus Aligwekwe, & Isaiah Welch of Orlando FL; Brother: Roosevelt , Sister-In-Law Myrna Williams and Nephew: Roosevelt Williams Jr., of Vero Bch, FL; Nieces: Denyce Williams and Jennifer Williams of Jacksonville, FL; Cousin: Minister Melvin Cooper of Columbus GA; Uncle: Bryant Williams of Alabama and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.
